Simple Butterfly

Unlike the other butterfly models, this simple origami can be made in just seconds. It’s very reminiscent of the beautiful butterflies that flit from flower to flower with their prettily patterned wings glistening. Make a few, then hang them from the ceiling where they’ll sway and replicate the gentle beating of the insect’s wings.

YOU WILL NEED

One sheet of 6 in (15 cm) square paper

Scissors

1. Fold in half through the design to make a crease, then open the paper out and fold in half again across the design. Use a pair of scissors to cut halfway along the first crease.

2. Fold the paper in half. Turn over a narrow triangular flap from the end of the cut to ½in (1cm) down the left-hand edge.

3. Open out the paper using the new fold line as the main crease.
