Finding old frames in junk shops to showcase artworks or photographs is easy – look for wide frames so the focus is on the picture. Annie found a great photo in a 1960s fashion magazine and loved the model in the simple flower design dress. The design is slightly enlarged and painted over the frame. You can also paint old frames with geometric or abstract patterns to suit your décor.

1. Cut out your magazine image and plan out your frame design based on the image you have chosen.

2. Paint your chosen frame in two coats of Chalk Paint in Old Ochre using a Chalk Paint Brush. Leave to dry after each coat.

3. Paint leaves freehand using a Small Detail Brush and Chalk Paint in Capability Green. Leave to dry.

4. Paint the blue forget-me-knot flower petals in Giverny. Leave to dry.

5. On a MixMat, create a mix of Giverny and Capability Green and use this to make little dots on your forget-me-knots. Use Tilton to make a dot of yellow in the middle of each flower.
6. Once dry, seal with a coat of Clear Chalk Paint Wax.
