You might remember that we wrote a blog post at the beginning of the year outlining our craft predictions for 2017. It’s still one of your most popular posts on MAKEetc. so we’ve put our thinking caps on and predicted five more trends that we’re expecting to see in the rest of the 2017. Which one of these are you most excited about? And is there anything else you think will become a hit before the year is out?
Collage
The adult colouring trend has faded out but there’s one thing that the craft community will hold onto... loads more people looking for ways to ease stress and get creative! Wahoo!!
If, like many of us, the thought of following a crochet pattern or getting to grips with a sewing machine is a bit much, then collage could be the calming craft hobby for you (though we do have some great knitting, crochet and sewing tutorials that you might find useful as well!)

Rainbows, unicorns and magical makes
If you thought you’d had enough of brightly coloured knits and cute crocheted unicorns, think again! These happy homemade items have become immensely popular with kids and adults alike and while the colours might say summer, the magic is bound to continue into the festive season and beyond...

Super chunky knits
Knitting and crocheting with chunky yarns is nothing new, but as the colder months settle in, we think you’ll all be hooked on the brilliant big needles again. We’re particularly excited for the release of Lauren Aston’s book, and look forward to browsing some stylish knits in the high street shops and window displays. From cosy mitts and hot water covers to statement throws and cushions for the home; this autumn is going to get chunky!

Quilting
That’s not a new trend, you say? And of course you’re right... Quilting has been around since forever. But it’s not had quite the same popularity as some of the other soft crafts (knitting, crochet, sewing) and we think that might soon change. With mug rugs and cute quilts available in the shops and fabric lovers looking for new craft ideas, we predict a rise in quilting any time soon.

Scandi stuff
It seems us Brits and Americans just can’t get enough of the simple Scandi style, from hygge and lagom living to Scandi interiors, Scandi flavours in our kitchens, and Scandi style in our crafting too! If you’re looking for trendy things to make as gifts this autumn or ideas for homemade festive decorations, we bet you’ll find a few Scandi-inspired projects to get stuck into.
