MAKING UP AND FINISHING

Using markers for placement, fold the pouch (WS facing each other) and sew both side edges together using mattress stitch. Weave in ends.

Attach the small button to the front of the envelope using the buttonhole for placement.

Tassel

Using colours 2 and 3, wrap yarn thickly around a 4in (10cm) piece of card (approx. 50 times). Cut a 10in (25cm) length of yarn in either of colours used for tassel, thread under strands around card and knot at top edge, leaving a tail to attach tassel to keyring. Remove tassel from card by cutting through threads at bottom of card. Using one of remaining unused colours, bind tassel together by wrapping yarn just below top and fastening with a knot. Attach key ring to top left-hand corner of pouch and attach tassel to key ring.

Mindfulness

Fill these holders with tiny keepsakes that bring back happy memories, so you can open them and reminisce whenever you need a pick-me-up. If you’re giving one of these to a friend or someone in your family, you could fill it with notes listing the reasons you love them and the memories you have shared together.
