This gorgeous child's beanie crochet pattern is taken from the new book, Simple Chic Crochet, by Susan Ritchie and Karen Miller of Mrs Moon. We love the colourful pom pom on the top and matching trimming!
This lovely child’s hat is a great, easy project suitable for a beginner, and creates a lovely gift very, very quickly! The beanie is exactly what you want from a child’s hat – simple, fun, warm and easy to spot in a crowd!
The yarn is two colours held together; this gives a lovely marl effect where the colours randomly twist around each other. You do not need to wind the two colours into one ball before using the yarn, simply hold one strand from each separate ball at the same time.

Round 14 (trim): Ch1, 1dc into same place, 1 dc into every st to end of rnd, join with a sl st to fi rst dc made, fasten off.
TO MAKE UP
Weave in ends.
POMPOM
Make a fabulous pompom using C. Keep ends quite long after you have tied it and use these to attach the pompom to the hat.
Colours
If you do not want to do a contrast pompom and trim, you should have enough of the main colours to just use these instead.
