- Yarn sewing needle
Gauge (tension)
12½ sts and 14 rows in pattern to a 4-in. (10-cm) square on US 8 (5 mm) needles.

The scarf measures 6¼ x 52¾ in. (16 x 134 cm).

Cast on 20 sts.
Row 1: *P2, k2tog, [yo twice], ssk; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 2: K2, *p1, k1, p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 3: *P2, k4; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 4: K2, *p4, k2; rep from * to end.
Rep last 4 rows 46 times more.
Bind (cast) off loosely.
