Amigurumi Lemon

Get zesty with this bright citrus fruit. The slightly elongated oval, worked in the boldest shade of yellow, is just round enough to give off plump, juicy vibes.

YARN AND MATERIALS

Cotton DK yarn (100% cotton):

• Bright Yellow

Pair of ⅜–¼in (5–6mm) safety eyes

Perlé Cotton No.8 in Black and Pink

Toy stuffing

HOOK AND EQUIPMENT

3.25mm (US size D/3) crochet hook

Locking or ring stitch marker

Yarn needle

Make a magic ring.

Round 1: 6dc into ring. (6 sts)

PM at start of round.

Round 2: [Inv inc in next st] 6 times. (12 sts)

Round 3: 1dc in each st.

Round 4: [1dc in next st, inv inc in next st] 6 times. (18 sts)

Round 5: [1dc in next 2 sts, inv inc in next st] 6 times. (24 sts)

Sew face details using Perlé cotton and yarn needle, using Black for V-shaped mouth and Pink for cheeks (see page 125). Fasten off and secure all thread ends.

Beg filling with small pieces of toy stuffing, cont adding as dec rounds are worked.

Round 23: [1dc in next st, inv dec] 6 times. (12 sts)

MAKING UP AND FINISHING

Cut yarn, thread tail into a yarn needle and close opening by weaving through front loops only. Fasten off and bury tail through body of lemon.
