Even in the depths of winter this bag will cheer you up; it has such a lovely beachy, seaside feel. The colour changes of the yarn work out in almost equal stripes, and it has a cute textured stitch.

FINISHING
Pin and block the bag. With RS together, sew the side seams. Turn RS out.
ADD THE LINING
Measure the knitted bag and the handles and cut out 2 lining pieces for the bag and one for each handle, allowing an extra 7⁄8in (2cm) all around each edge for the seam allowance. Make up the lining and line the handles.
Insert the lining into the bag with WS together and insert the ends of the handles between the lining and knitted pieces approx. 2in (5cm) from each edge. Cut the ribbon in half and fit one end between the lining and knitted bag in the center and pin into the bag on each side. Hand sew along the top of bag, attaching the handles and ribbon at the same time.
